Olympiodorus Deacon of Alexandria, On Jeremiah. 4:2

Written early 6th Century. Only found in catena fragment. The only manuscript with an unabridged commentary from Olympiodorus has lucuna until Jeremiah chapter 5. The form from the catena matches that of the remaining commentary, and the text matches where there is overlap from catena with the manuscript and is likely genuine.

"Καὶ ὀμόσῃ." Οὐκ ὀμνύναι προστάττει, ἀλλ' εἰ ἄρα τις ὀμνύει, βούλεται ἑαυτῶν μὴ τὰ εἴδωλα ὅρκια ποιεῖσθαι. Πλέκει δὲ τὸ, “Ζῇ Κύριος,” τῷ ὅρκῳ, ἵνα ὀμνύοντες ὁμοῦ, καὶ δοξολογῶσι, καὶ εὐχαριστῶσιν. Οὐ γὰρ ἀδίκως, ἢ ἀκρίτως, δεῖ προφέρειν τοῦ Θεοῦ τὸ ὄνομα. Ἡ γὰρ καλὴ ἀναστροφὴ, καὶ ἑτέροις γίνεται αἰτία σωτηρίας.	"Et Juravit" Non iurare praecipit, sed si quis omnino jurat, non per idola jurandum vult. Addit autem, “Vivit Dominus,” jurejurando, ut jurantes gloriam una gratiasque offerant. Non enim injuste, aut temere nomen Dei est pronuntiandum. Bona enim conversatio, aliorum quoque salutis causa fit.
